My name is Abel Flores, the owner of Vallarta Mexican Restaurant.

I started my restaurant to bring my lifelong love of cooking traditional Mexican food from my hometown to your dining pleasure.

I was born in Mexico City and learned to cook as a kid watching and helping my mom put together delicious Mexican dishes for my family. I took those early childhood lessons from Mexico City and brought them with me to New Jersey, always looking to improve on the great tastes my mom had created with me as her helper.

For the last 30 years, I worked in several kitchens where I made the time to perfect my recipes and the art of cooking. I dabbled (and as any good cook does – sampled) with typical American fare, Thai food, Italian and Chinese dishes, while always blending in my Mexican roots to create great new recipes. My family became my taste- testers for many years and constantly encouraged me to spread my great recipes and cooking skills to others.
